It was my first trip to southern part of India.. so obviously was little confused, little exited and little curious about the things that will happen. It was about 5 AM when I reached the mangalore station through train. Announcements were going in their language which were totally out of my mind. I have to go to my company "Mphasis", so I rushed outside the gate to get autos like stuff because I don't want to take any risk of going late on my first day, so outside got one autowala, I asked him in my language "Mphasis jana hai, chaloge kya?" The autowalas have very good face reading techniques, he understood that I am from north side of country, he just smiled at me and went away. In the mean time I was thinking that I must did something wrong and only due to this that autowala gave me a weired smile. Anyways, I was standing there waiting for another auto, next time I asked autowala in English, and I was surprised when I got reply in same language (that's the best part is that the autowala of mangalore can understand and speak English very well).

Spending some time in mangalore, there were many strange things that came across me, like there are no glasses in buses (yes, that's true, there are no galsses in buses, just a rod),
second, you may not be able to get food (especially chapati, spicy curry) but gobi manchurian is the only dish that u can find every where, on stalls, big restaurants, malls, everywhere.
third, if you are in service and you have to work from there, then don't even think about the rates to take house on rent, in mangalore property is quite cheap, you can get 3 bhk flat at just 1000/- and that's also fully furnished, trust me.
fourth, there are total 5 beaches in mangalore and that's the main spot for everyone, from younger to older one to spend their evening time there.

But apart of all these things, there are many things, once you will go, you will never forget. Like Pabbass ice cream parlour near big bazar, trust me once you go there you want to go there again and again. Loot mart, panambur beach, summer sand.

One thing I like most about the mangalore is that the atmosphere is quite descent there, and also the traffic (not like Delhi and mumbai where you have to spend lot of time in traffic jams). I spend almost three months in mangalore and that were awesome. I bet, whatever you think about that city, once you will go there you will end up saying "City Beautiful"...

Mangalore "City Beautiful"
